👤I bought used tires for the Giant Defy 4 Road Bike and Continental Race 28 700x20-25c Bicycle Inner Tubes. The bicycle is very fast. The ride was jittery because of the old Gatorskin 23mm tires. The 25mm tires absorb the rough surface of the streets and make the ride very supple. I would not advise against puncture proof tubes. This is close to a tubeless setup without the price and tire-slip. Racing tires are too soft for street riding. The wire bead version of the tire is 315 grams, compared to the folding Gatorskins's 480 grams.

My back up tube "blew". The tire separated near the rim allowed the tube to "pinch out". I had to call support 42 miles into the ride to get a lift. I had to walk 2.5 miles in a heat index of 105+ to get to a road that was close to the paved bike path. They are waiting for the manufacturer to respond and send me a new tire. I've also owned marathons and gatorskins. Imo skingators are great tires, but they don't last because of the decay of the sidewalls and the heavy weight of the marathons. The above tires retail for over $50 a piece. Try these thick slicks and save some money.

I am good at climbing hills on a bike, but it is difficult to get up some of the longer hills. I ride my mountain bike and road bike frequently. When compared to my Continental GP 4000sii tires or my set of tires on my mountain bike, these tires wear quicker. After 100 miles on the Thickslicks, those tires have started to go from a rounded shape to a square one. The last thing that's negative about these tires is that they're the hardest tires I've ever installed on a wheel. The wide profile and large white lettering on these tires look great. I have yet to get a flat with them despite riding on some very rough roads that I would not dare take my car down.

I love the look. I used a 1 oz bottle of Testors' paint to clean up the horse. It's in my bike rotation for a completely different ride than my other bikes. It was good for the changes! The original tires on my Jamis Explorer were hybrid, but since I only ride on paved trails, when it came time to replace them, I decided to get a road tire. A skinnier tire would be quicker, but these are quiet, smooth riding, and they handle wet pavement very well. The cross section is reminiscent of a bell curve, and that recurs on the edges of the tread, so you won't have to worry about puddles. Even though they are extremely thin, they seem to be very durable, and after 250 miles, about 80% of the little molded hair is still on the tires. I have a steel framed bike that weighs about 250 tires and I carry a lot of gear and lunch in my backpack, so I am loading these tires very high. I keep air pressure at 65, which still works well, but I cut it back to 50 in the front and 55 in the rear for one ride, which made the ride very smooth over the rough bumps. I think I have a pretty good set of tires at a great price, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good, durable, general purpose street tire. You slip because there isn't enough tread depth to get a grip. The tread on my bike looks like one of the patterns Kenda uses on their motorcycle tires, which makes it a bit unique.

You will get your money's worth, and then some. Quiet. I mean quiet. There is a How quiet it is. Pedestrians not being aware of you coming behind might be to blame for the quiet ride I have on a college campus. That's what a bell is for. Is it? The edge and contact patch make installing past the brake pads a little more difficult. I just can't think of anything else with this tire. It's that good. Do yourself a favor. If you ride your mountain bike more on pavement, you should invest in these tires. Everything will be easier and more enjoyable with them. The person who wanders into your path is not included. It's a good thing.

👤I am a fan of Continental bike tires, but even with their 4000 series, I experienced an inordinate number of flats. In their defense, I live in Sonoma CA, where there are lots of wine tasting going on and lots of fender-benders. They litter the bike lanes. I did some research and found Continental's Dura-Skin Tires. I'm close to my first 1,000 miles on this pair and have had no issues. I cleaned and inspected my tires after every ride, because many of the flats were surprises. Small particles of broken headlight glass can easily enter most bike tires and take several rides to get to your tube. Even if the ride was clean and well maintained, the particles can get to your tube. I have not needed to pull my bike pump out because of the resistance of the DuraSkin tires. I'll take the GatorSkins, hands down, even though I may sacrifice a small amount of speed. These are as tough as they come.

Being far from home and not having to worry about a flat as much makes me feel better about ridding far and is what earned these the 5 star from me. The loss gives me an excuse to get stronger. After Continental Grad Prix tires wear out, I will switch to them. They offer puncture protection, but are a faster tire. I bought the wire bead because they have a more robust side wall. I had a hard time getting these on. If you get the wire, be prepared for a fight because this tire is the hardest install of the bunch. I also bought new Continental tubes. The valve stem was lined up with the Continental logo. It's easy to locate the location of a puncture in a tire. I had an issue with shipping. I got a tire and one of the wires was bent. I was able to get it right by hand. Some reviewers were talking about the holes in the tires. I have them as well. They are hard to see in the picture I took. I discovered that these are wear indicators. The tires are done when you can't see the holes. Nice feature. I'm happy I jumped to this tire. I would use them again even though they have a small speed loss. I ride in the desert. I can't say how these hold up in the rain. They seem to hold up well in my climate. 👤For 40 years, and 30 years, I have been riding a road and mountain. I've never ridden any of the products from Vittoria, but saw the Zaffiro Pro G2.0 was very well-reviewed and cheaper than the GP 4-Season. I use a flip-flops single-speed/fixie for my commute to and fro in San Francisco and installed a pair of the Zaffiro Pro G2.0 tires on an '80s Masi. The Zaffiro Pro G2.0 have a large contact patch for a 700x25c tire, but they don't fit under my Campy Record Delta brakes, which have super-tight clearance. There is a The Zaffiro Pro G2.0 ride is great for such a tire. The Zaffiro was replaced with these, and it feels much more comfortable in the city. I wouldn't put these on a roadbike that is doing high-speed tight cornering, but they are perfect for commute riding. I haven't ridden on wet surfaces yet, but the tread pattern looks great. 👤I agree with some people who said this is a good tire, but I can't get rid of the lumpy sections. I've changed bike tires, massaging the sidewalls, and slowly pumping up the tube to try to get the cord to sit within the proper place in the rim, and I've improved the smoothness enough to ride on my trainer until my wife recovers from surgery. It has very little rolling resistance and is very quiet, and no signs of wear over my first 100 miles or so, so I recommend it. Don't expect it to be perfect.

👤I love Continental tires and jumped at the great price Amazon had on this tire. The Continental Hometrainer tire is usually more expensive than the Tacx or Vitorrio, so I decided to go with it. I've been using old road tires and the last one lasted all of last winter and half of this one. Since I'm out of worn tires, I bought this first dedicated trainer tire. I was surprised by the rubber burning odor when I put the tire on, but I thought it would go away as the tire wore. My sister came from the other side of the house to see what was burning. It's quite offensive. It is worse than the old tire that didn't smell until the last few sessions. There is a I inflated the tire to 105 PSI as recommended by Tacx, and under the 120 PSI limit for the tire. I cleaned the roller. The trainer did not have a problem. I rode a very easy half-hour session. I was amazed to see the amount of rubber in this tire. It's not going to last very long if it sheds that much rubber in half an hour. The old tire was taller than the cardboard in the picture. The tire is at 200x23 and doesn't come close to the cardboard. I vacuumed up all the rubber bits from the old tire before setting up the trainer with this tire, so you can see the 30 minutes of pedaling with it. I'm very disappointed in this product. If I could, I would give it zero stars.

It grips better than certain tires, but not really any better than others. It's nice to have less annoying squeaking. It was easy to go on my wheels. I had no trouble. Maybe I'm used to tough tires. I don't know. It is very durable on the trainer. If you don't have old bike tires laying around and you don't want to waste your good road ones, this tire is a good move.
