👤The product was in good condition. Over the years, we've had several bike racks. The type that hangs your bike from the cross bar is all of them. There are only two frames we have to transport. The female bike was a pain with the extra bar. Not any more. We love this rack. It took about 15 minutes to get it together. It works well in our 2 inch receiver and is stable. They said it was rock solid when I used the clamps. The bikes are super secure and easy to load. Going down the freeway. Awesome. The name brand units are a great price if you check them out. The quality is very good. Highly recommend this product.
👤You can tell by the weight of the box that it is a large hunk of metal. Do not be deterred by the posts that say "too many parts" or that it's too confusing. The average person can figure this out in 20 minutes if they have pictures and instructions. There is a You will want to use the hitch lock piece. It is a deterrent to theft as someone will need a deep sockets or inc wrench before they can remove the carrier, and it keeps the carrier rock solid in the receiver. It will take more work to get your bikes to fit without touching each other. The bikes are reversed in the photos that come with the carrier. I couldn't make this work because the handlebars on one bike made contact with the seat on the other. There is a I have two bikes facing the same direction and the carrier works great. Everything was safe and sound because of a high speed run down the freeway and a drive all over Houston's crappy streets. The red arrow should be noted. As with all bike carriers, it is important that you put some kind of material between the bike and the carrier, as movement and vibration can wear paint.
👤I was worried about the price and the fact that it had no reviews, but it was easy to put together and it fits on the back of my jeep wrangler with the spare tire.
👤I read reviews. Know when I do... I took out the 5 stars. They have to own the company or stock. One star can't even see the pictures and this is easy to assemble. Period. I saw a lot of things. The husband and wife team. It's funny. Repacked and sent it back? You sent the bike rack back. Not a bolt or washer to assemble! The rubber tire straps would be difficult to push over the steel peg. The instructions were terrible. Agree! Take a look at the parts picture. It is easy if you use common sense. I adjusted the bike by shaking it. It is going to your destination. Oh yes... No common sense people... There is no off loading your bike pics. The bottom line. I look forward to my first trip with my bikes because of the inexpensive, sturdy, easy to assemble bike rack. The bike rack is very EXPENSIVE but at a fraction of the cost of a bike shop rack. Those of you that can't figure it out will get totally assembled bike racks. There are bike shops waiting for you. Enjoy your travels with your bikes.
The 4 bike rack is only for vehicles with a 2 inch trailer hitch. This product requires a Class III or IV 2 inches hitch. Allen's patented tie down system secures bicycles with 22 inch long carry arms. When the rack is not in use, the carry arms quickly fall out of the way. It is necessary for minor assembly. The rack is set up and installed in less than 5 minutes. Allen's warranty doesn't cover third-party sellers. Allen's warranty doesn't cover third-party sellers.
👤I took some time to use this product before I wrote my review because I wanted to be able to help people decide if this was right or wrong for them. Here is how I use the bike rack. We only travel about 10 miles to where we ride when we have it attached to the hitch of my truck. There is a The pros are as follows. The rack I bought was cheap. I paid $68.00 for it and it has doubled in price. It will come down again, so my suggestion is not to pay more than $68.00 for it. I've seen this happen recently. There is a I can't say how it will hold up in the weather because I only put it on the truck when I need it. This is made from heavy steel and it is not light weight so that should be a plus for its longevity. The cradles that hold the frame of the bike in place are padded so that they fit girls and odd shaped frames without having to buy the extra support bar. It uses a bolt and nut to remove the rattle instead of a locking pin. The mounting system is both pro and con. The pro is that it stops the bike rack from rattling inside of the hitch. There is a If you keep the bike mounted to the vehicle, the frame support arms fold down to make it easier to store away when it's no longer needed. The bikes have been secured with the straps and buckles. I don't know how they would hold up in the sun and weather. The bike support arms fold down, as well as the lower joint. If you need to open the SUV rear door, this is the place to go. There is a Cons. I don't think this particular rack is terrible, but I think you can only design any hitch mount bike rack to do so much. I don't think this design will improve some of the cons I have listed. 1st. The bikes are close together. You have to manipulate pedals and handle bars as you stack the bikes together after the first one. You will need extra bungee cords to secure the spinning wheels and handlebars. Not because the bikes will come loose, but to prevent everything from hitting together and scratching all of your bikes up. The bottoms of the bikes swing back and forth if not bungee strapped. You will get scratches even if you mount things carefully because pedals and handle bars stick out. There is no way to avoid that. The pivot feature is useless when bikes are mounted. If you need to open a car on an SUV, the rack is too heavy to be lowered. Maybe its not supposed to be lowered with bikes mounted. I'm not sure if it would be heavy enough to clear an SUV door with bikes mounted to it. I have it on my truck. There is a The tension bolt isn't as quick to remove as a hitch lock. It is an aircraft style locking nut and you need 2 tools to loosen it. If someone wanted to take the time they could unbolt your rack and steal it. I tried mounting it with a hitch lock, but it allowed too much play in the bike rack to happen. The tension bolt will have to be replaced. The bike support arms can be mounted to the upright. I don't think it would be an issue with breaking if they had designed this area to be a bit more solid. There is a Those are the main points I've noticed. I could see some improvements, but I'm not sure how you could make this type of rack better. If it's right for you, read the review.

👤Product is sturdy enough to hold the heaviest of bicycles. It is easy to install. The paint has held up to scratches, rain and road rash. There is a I would have rated the product higher for its strength if thewashers were useful. The useless washers they send in the kit should be thrown away. They are worthless because they bend easily. The bikes will flip down the interstate if the washers pull through expanded metal. The second step is to find a cheap metal plate that is 1/16 inch thick. Cut at 4.5 inches minimum and drill a 7/16 inch hole for each piece. To avoid rust, clean and paint. You have something that will work with expanded metal. This issue needs to be fixed by the manufacturer. It would cost about a dollar more per kit to make these, but people would still buy them. For the additional hard work of making the rectangular washers, drink a Bourbon. The installation should be done according to the manufacturer's instructions. I made sure to place the outside rectangular washers under the rack frame to provide more support. If you hit a potholes, you'll be able to support your bikes with the poorly welded camper rack. I hope the review was helpful. Brian.
👤The first photo shows how these work. The rack needs to be bolted to the wire mesh. It is held in place by compression. It was wobbly after I did all four and added bikes. I loosened the nuts and the rack fell off. Not good! The second photo shows the modification I made. I bought a piece of flat steel at Home Depot for about 15 dollars. I bought HDG bolts, nuts and washers. This thing is tight after all were installed. Very strong. I feel good driving with them. The straps are rock solid and I use them. I wouldn't use this without modifying it. If the thin wire mesh breaks, bye bye bikes and probably a lawsuit.
👤If you don't want to buy a bike rack separately, this is a great option. I mounted the wheel guides differently because the rack folds up and I already had it. The wheel guides are on the outside of the rack. The rack can be folded up when not in use and the wheel guides won't hit my car. I can use most of the rack without removing the wheel guides. You use care when tying the bikes down. Put a tie down across the middle bar of the bike and put one to the short side to keep the bike stable.
The bicycle car carrier rack is easy to install. There are hooks to protect car paint. It is easy to set up a cradle clamps. Due to customizability, some assembly is required. PLATFORM STYLE 2-BIKES CARRIER Up to 2 bikes can easily be transported with the Sturdy Steel Structure and Stable Platform. The car fit type is universal. The bikeRACK HITCH is aTILE. It is designed to fit the trailer hitch receiver. 90 lbs is the maximum weight capacity for a bike. It fits most bikes frames with 17 to 47 inches. There is a distance between two bikes. There are two moored hooks. Two foam-padded hooks can be slid down over the vertical frame to fit a different size bike frame for safe and reliable transport. Four wheel cradles with knobs can be adjusted along horizontal bars to accommodate bikes of different lengths. Bike wheels are secured into a wheel cradle with tire straps. The rack folds in to a compact size to access the car rear boot or easy storage when not in use. The rack folds in to a compact size to access the car rear boot or easy storage when not in use.
👤The bike rack is heavy. The materials are solid and don't feel like they will break soon. It comes with everything you need to set it up, and you can even get extras if you need them. It is heavy and looks overwhelming, but it is easy to put together. I like that it can be adjusted to fit different bike sizes. This is a good find.
👤It's difficult to find a good quality bike rack. I took a chance with this one, and it works perfectly. It is made of thick steel and has a stabilizing plate that will keep the hitch from wobbling. If you can tolerate their briefness, this is not a deal breaker. This bike rack is an excellent one that is comparable to some costing over two times more with the addition of 4 strategically placed washers. I added these parts because I like assembly. You don't need the extra washers to make it usable. I only have one bike. The bar can be extended from the truck hitch to the vertical support bar to open SUV hatches. I haven't found any bar flex carrying my bike. The bike retaining assembly and the bike holding rack are both 30 inch long and can be removed from the main support bar. I was very pleased with this purchase.
👤We decided on this rack because we needed a better way to haul our bikes. We can use it on both of our vehicles. We used a padlock and cable to secure the bikes to the vehicle, and an additional CZC hitch tightening plate to take some of the slack out of the brackets and bar. I traveled from our home in Louisiana to Tennessee in my SUV with the bike rack secured and loaded up. 500 miles of highway to get there, up and down mountains, rough roads, rain, and left unattended many times. We had peace of mind that our bikes were in place, and the rack held up. The back up camera was used. This is not a big issue, but we can still see behind us and use the mirrors. There is a We purchased an additional hitch plate. The hitch bar and the bike mounting brackets were not fastened into the bar. I felt better eliminating the slack and making the connection tighter. There is no swaying or rocking on the bikes. Everything is locked up. Replacing the hitch pin with a locking pin eliminated the concerns of a thief or vandal. No one will remove a bike from the rack if there is a 6 foot plastic coated cable and padlock. Added protection.
👤We were unable to use the products because of the missing parts. We had it all put together and then realized they were not in the box. The 2 hook brackets are labeled " Two Padded Hooks". The hooks can be slid down over the frame to fit a different size bike for safe and reliable transport. They weren't in the box. The bike rack needs hook brackets to work.
A corrosion-resistant. The hitch bike rack is protected from the elements with a black powder coat finish. DIMENSIONS It accepts a 2 inch tube and a 4 inch square RV bumper. It can hold up to 200 lbs. It isdurable: It is made from Long Lasting Heavy Duty Black Powder coated Steel with Zinc Hardware. It is designed for bicycle Racks or Cargo, not for towing. There is an accessory with two U Bolts. There is a guarantee. A one year limited warranty is included. There is a guarantee. A one year limited warranty is included.
👤I was very impressed at first. It held my bike rack and 4 bikes on about 8 trips, but when it failed it was a big problem. No one died behind us on the interstate. When we pulled over the receiver and rack, all the bikes were gone, because people were yelling at me while we were driving the RV with only 3 bikes. One of the bolts that held the receiver to the number broke. $1200 worth of bikes and bike rack were missing, but no one was hurt.
👤The 4" Square 1/2" U-bolts are inferior quality and production method, and will not support a receiver type bike rack over time. I had three bikes, two aluminum frame and one steel kids bike. The bikes were undamaged by the first bolt that broke. The U Bolt was replaced. The bikes were damaged when the second one broke down and the remaining bolt was drug resistant. The large factory Ubolts are actuallyCAST from a low grade pot metal and not formed under heat. The metal is brittle and will break before it will flex. It's a cause for great concern of public safety when bikes, boats, or cargo platforms are severed from the host vehicle.
👤The product was good for the price. It's adequate for holding a bike rack.
👤I didn't have a problem with this bike rack. It was easy to install, all the parts were there. This rack is recommended by me.
👤I put this with a 5 bike rack carrier and it held up well. It doesn't move and hasn't bent the bumper. I used metal corner fence pieces that I used to reinforce the square bolts that hold the receiver on to prevent the bumper from being warped. I have steel corner pieces around the bolts that strengthen the areas that attach to the receiver. If you are going to hold a lot of bikes, I would recommend reinforcement to the bumper. If this isn't properly reinforced, the force that these can place on the small bumper can cause a lot of issues on the road.
👤This upgrade was perfect for my trailer. I can put my bikes on the back and lock them up in my bike rack when I am camping. I had to add a shim to the mounting brackets because my bumper is small for the U bolts that come with the unit. That was very easy. Installation was easy.
If you have a question about the product, they will try their best to help you. RV approval: The TRAVELER XC2 works well with trailers and campers. It is easy to assemble following the instructions. Load your bikes and you are ready to go. The upright bar can be folded down to give access to the rear of the RV. STURDY: Even on long journeys, the light but sturdy design keeps your bikes in place. It'sTILE: Easily transports up to 2 bicycles and is compatible with a Class 3 hitch receiver. Also comes with a bumper accessory.
👤This is an amazing product. It was well packaged and made. There is nothing I disliked about the product. The bike's handlebars were pushed against the window of my trailer when it was assembled and installed. I can't travel with it without shattering my window. If the attaching bar was longer, or my bumper was extended further, it wouldn't be an issue, but for me it won't work. I have to return it and look for a different carrier. My advice to potential buyers is to make sure your bumper extends far enough to facilitate a bike without impacting the camper/trailer. Hope this helps.
👤There were no problems with the RV being mounted to the bumper. I used the bumper mount instead of the RV receiver to give the bikes more road clearance. I used a 8” receiver extension to make sure the rack cleared the spare. It worked out well. The rack is very user friendly. I used a bike bar for my wife's bike. It worked well. I am happy with the purchase.
👤I put this on the travel trailer. I mounted it to the bumper using the adapter. The installation was easy and smooth. The quality of the rack is very good. It couldn't be simpler to load and unload our bikes. I've tried other methods of taking our bikes along, but this is the best. There is a There is a word of advice. The first camping trip after I installed the rack was a success, the bikes were loaded and unloaded in a matter of seconds. I was so pleased and proud of myself for buying such a smart purchase, but I was next in line at the dumping station and thought I would get a jump on the process and get the drain hose out. The hose wouldn't come out after I pulled the bumper end cap off. I was confused as to why I couldn't pull the hose out, but I was able to hold on to the bumper because I tightened the mount. It took a little while but I got the hose out with the help of some tools. The moral of the story is to make sure you don't tighten the adapter too much, or you might not get your drain hose out.
👤The reviews made me buy this rack. I mounted the rack to my Mazda with a class 3 hitch. I have two mountain bikes that I intended to use on the rack. The bike mounted closest to the rear hatch makes contact with the vehicle because the piece of metal that mounts to the hitch receivers is too short. There was no way to mount the bikes without creating a situation where the bike pedal and or handle bar would make contact with the vehicle, so I tried maneuvering the bike tire loops and flipping the bike back and forth. I started looking into options with hitch extensions, but they seemed to weaken the strength of the bike rack in the first place and the more parts you use, the potential for more failure and movement can be caused when used. There is a The rack is sturdy, but it seems to rattle when the three bars come together. I requested a return from Amazon and will continue my search for an affordable bike rack with a longer mounting piece. If this rack worked for my car with my bikes, I would recommend it and keep it, but sadly it doesn't.
80"W x 36"D (Top, Handlebars), 18"D (Bottom) x 50"H Form fit cradles hold your bikes. Bonus straps give added security. Max weight is up to 60 lbs. Max weight is up to 60 lbs.
👤I regret buying this bike rack. It was attached to the back of the RV and was supposed to hold two children's bikes. We should have followed that instinct when we were nervous. We used bungee cords to reinforce. There is a If we hadn't done that, our daughter's bike could have caused a major accident on the highway. The bike rack caved in. The clasps popped open, the ties broke, and the bungee cord was the only thing that helped the bike on. Had this hurt someone, I don't know what I would have done.
👤When bicycles are loaded, the bottom rail that supports the bicycles has large gaps between parts that cause it to droop. There is a lot of play between parts because the bottom rail isn't securely held by the screws that attach it to the hinge. I'm afraid that parts will fail or the bikes will fall off the rail, so I'm planning my first trip. It doesn't seem heavy enough to support two bikes.
👤I rode for over 5000 miles with two heavy bikes on the back and no problems. There is a Some reviewers have said that the rubber straps held the bikes on securely when the arms slope downward. The rubber braces and their straps do slide downward with the weight and the bumps, so you have to mark the areas where the braces are supposed to be so you can position them back where they belong. I used the straps they provided to secure the bikes to the upper steps if the trailer was to be let go. I used a cable lock to make the bikes harder to steal. It's a great product when you need something secured to your RV.
👤DANGEROUS! Despite adding additional straps, we almost lost our bikes. Bikes falling off this rack on the highway could kill someone. The rubber saddles hold the bikes in place. One bike was hanging off the other. My straps held them. The bikes could have killed someone on the highway if they had not been secured. We stopped for an hour into our drive. It was only a matter of time if we did not. There is a The manufacturer of this rack should immediately recall the product. This rack is dangerous.
👤The only reason I am giving this bike rack 2 stars is because of the extra straps that came with it. There is a We traveled from Massachusetts to New Jersey in 3 hours. The first time we checked the bikes, the rack was already bent downward and our bikes were inches from falling off. Thankfully, my husband used zip ties to hold the bikes together, so that they wouldn't fall off the bike rack into the road. We used the extra straps that came with the rack to secure our bikes to the higher rung of the ladder, which prevented them from sliding down the weak support bars. We were on our way to Florida and checked the bikes at every stop. We trashed the bike rack when we got to Florida. Junk! There is a I felt so disappointed and ripped off. We have to find a new bike rack for the ride back to Massachusetts and we have to repair the scratches on the camper from the bike's pedals. It's not the best way to start our vacation.

👤We needed a bike rack to get into mountain biking. The features that I have not seen before make this rack convenient to use. There is a Most of the metal was very thick and heavy duty. Sturdy and strong. The free hitch stabilizer means very little wiggle. When not in use, folds compactly. The tailgate can be adjusted to open without bikes. There is a There are rubber latches for attaching bikes. A very good deal. There is a The rubber is a bit stiff at first, but becomes easier to work with after a few uses.
👤Assembly was easy. The product is well made. We took four bikes on a trip and drove over 600 miles. The bikes weigh 95 lbs. This is rated at 140. There is a ThePivot function to utilize tailgate is nice and works as designed, the straps are easy to use, and it came with an extra replacement strap. The arms seemed to be too short. The brackets for the last bike were very close to the end of the tubes, meaning bikes were crowded on each other. If you care about the finish of your bikes, you should probably use tape or something similar to protect them from rubbing. The loop for the pivot pin retaining wire came loose after a few uses. See the photo. This was being used in a normal way. This shows a rush in the manufacturing process. It's easy to crimp this. I am confident I can fix it with a pair of pliers in about 10 seconds, but it was a small annoyance after so little use. It doesn't make the product non-functional as a bike rack. Attaching the bike rack to the hitch receiver requires a nut and bolt. There was not enough room for the bolt head to be tightened. I don't think most people will install a bike rack to their hitch, so a hitch pin is more appropriate and should be supplied. I bought a locking hitch pin. It's harder for someone to remove the rack. I was always aware of it when we went over speed bumps and rough roads with this type of rack. It was difficult to tell if there was flex in the rack or if it was just moving with the vehicle. I checked the welds when we got home. There is a This is a good product.
👤The entire top section bent downward when I traveled 65 miles. After several weeks, the company sent me a new top section. I took a 23 mile trip and the top broke, the rubber straps broke at 65 miles an hour, and the green wheels were smashed all over the interstate. If you don't have money to spend, don't buy this company. If you have to, throw the bills out the window so the people following you don't kill the family. I will never buy anything from this brand again. I don't want a free replacement, I threw it in the scrap metal pile. Trash is dangerous. The company contacted me and gave me a full refund after reading my review. The strings were attached to the bottom line. They sent me something and I copy and pasted it. There is a Jody, I'm here. 👤I like this back rack. It came in a big box with well written instructions and assembly went with a hitch. That's right. There are three locks on this rack, one on each bike center tube hook and one on the hitch pin. If you don't have any bikes, it can be folded up on the car. I use a regular hitch pin that doesn't need to be screwed in and the rack feels really solid going down the road. Highly recommended.
👤It had everything I was looking for, and it didn't cost me more than $400, which was great. I wanted a rack for my bike. My E-bike is 60 lbs. and most rack couldn't carry it over 35 lbs. You would have to buy a tray just for 4 tires to get the $400 that the racks had. The price is unbeatable for what you get and everything about this carrier is exactly what I was looking for. Also works well. I'm confident that I'll be able to carring my bikes anywhere.
👤I needed a bike rack since the better trails and roads are an hour or so away from home. I was initially shocked by the high prices of bike Racks on the market such as the $750 Thule aluminum & plastic carrier. There is a All load bearing parts are steel and heavy duty. The bike is hanging from the top tube rather than sitting securely on the bike wheels. The bike frame is secured with a hook. There is a Lift gate access and easy loading are possible with the tilt feature. There is a The construction is well designed. There is a If you only have one bike, you don't need to use a lot of wheel carriers. There are pros and cons. There are straps on the wheel that are designed to prevent any bounce and the hook that holds the bike down. I already had better and heavier duty motorcycle wheel tie-down straps that would hold on to the bike in the event of a catastrophic failure of the hook, which is why they were a bit short for 4 tires. There is a This rack was very pleased with itself. I think it's the best for the price and features.
👤This is a let down. Everyone likes this rack. The issue I had with the stand was that it sits at a 100-115 degree angle towards the back of the car not allowing a second bike to fit without the handle bar edging the back window of my van. It's crazy. I was going to buy a 7 inch hitch extension to seat the bikes further out from the window. There is a But... On my second local outing with my bike, the turn knob broke free and I didn't turn the screw because I was spinning freely. I had to disassemble my bike to get it out from under the arm which held it. Why was it lucky? The second bike is locked into a lower point of contact because the knob that broke is on the upper arm. The lower arm is trapped by the upper arm. I would have to cut the metal to get the second bike out. There is a There is a problem with PLASTIC. It's never a good idea to make anything that requires tightening and securing plastic. The plastic being so open to the environment and in a vital point of usage will cause the racks to be stripped out or rotted within 2 years. Everyone will have an incident like this, and it will happen to them later on. The rack is smart and people are giving great reviews. They will not be happy later. There is a It was disappointing to say the least. The rack is poorly constructed and designed.

👤The delivery was done in two days. The back of the camper has a 2 inch hitch mount. The hitch and bike rack meet and we put the stabilizer on where the hitch and bike rack meet. The rack is made so it doesn't wobble. The tie downs on the wheels were reinforced with additional straps. It didn't have to have either of these additions because the bikes are very heavy and expensive and we travel long distances. We purchased the bars for the step through bikes from Amazon to make sure we could properly lock them down. Adding the stabilizer to the hitch, the straps and the bars to the bike rack would have added more security. This is a nice rack that holds our bikes. We secured the cover for the bikes with bungee cords. Works well!
👤I gave up waiting for a Hollywood Rack Carrier after waiting for over half a year. It was highly recommended for use on a 5th Wheel RV, so I tried it out. The order was filled and I received it four days later. Assembly was fairly easy using the instructions, but there were two questions: first, the reflectors on each side of the bottom tire bars when installed face upward, which would not reflect and second, the headlights on the wrong side of the vehicle, which were stuck on the wrong side. Doesn't matter if bike cover goes over them. The only way the Velcro works is after you loop the strap around the tire, you need to twist it to get it to stick on the fabric, again, no problem. The lock to secure your rack to your RV and the two locks to secure bike to rack are all locks with one key. The locking key can be tight at times, but the movements on the holding bar will solve any issues. When depressing the locking lever and moving the securing hook, be aware that pitching can occur. There is a If you want to prevent up/down/side movement from the play in your hitch, buy a hitch tightener on Amazon, it is very inexpensive and could save you a lot of money. The upper bar on men's bikes is not included in our eBikes. It will not work on step through or women's bikes without a bar adapter. If you want to protect your investment in your eBike, strongly suggest a transportation bike cover. I always go one size larger than what I have, 2 bikes, 3 bike cover, I purchased a Team Obsidian three bike transportation cover. All of these items can be found on Amazon. The handlebars on my bike have different configurations and I need to tie a towel around my left one to keep my side mirror and brake lever from scratching. Do your research to find out what is best for you. Hope this helps. The biking season in northern Michigan is almost over. I have taken a few trips with the above items and have not had any problems. You don't need to buy a separate cover if you take the cover off. There is a Update 10/12/21 The photo above might help you answer your question about attaching the small wire pigtail.
It only takes a few minutes to assemble and the upright ratchet arms can be adjusted to different bike frame sizes. Keeps your bike stable. Sturdy design includes a built in anti-wobble hitch device. You can save yourself space. You can conveniently store it when it folds in to a compact mode. It'sTILE: It's compatible with 1-1/4" and 2-inch receiver Hitch. The maximum weight capacity is 35 Ibs per bike. There are separate accessory sales. The fat tire wheel trays have a Locking Hitch Pin or Security Cable.
👤I bought this rack 4 years ago. This is a capable and reliable carrier. It is light and well made. It looks like the picture. I won't be able to add anything new to the reviews, but I will give you better pictures so that you can make your own decision on the construction. I still use a strap to hold the wheels to the metal loops, even though I think it will probably not go anywhere once the top tube is pulled down. I only use the rack for one bike and it only weighs 21 pounds. It's easy to carry in one hand when it's not on the car.
👤I just bought this and broke it during assembly. I am hopeful that the company will replace the broken parts because the instructions were not clear and I used a magnifying glass to see them. If you purchase this, I've learned 3 things you might find helpful. The set screw on the 2" sleeve is difficult to remove, as well as several other reviewers. I needed a small pipe to slip over the allen wrench to turn it. The instructions don't say where the various washers and lock washers go. The lock washers go on the two large set screws, the 4 flat washers go on the quick adjust knobs, and the other washers go on the two large set screws. Match them up with the right size screws. If the "quick adjust" does not tighten easily, do not turn harder as that will strip them. They will tighten easily if you switch them to the other side of the tire holder rack. I stripped 2 of the quick change knobs before figuring out my mistake. I hope he replaces them.
👤Just returned from the road trip and had a vintage Schwinn Hollywood women's bike. I bought a cross-bar accessory for the bike so that the hook on the rack could be tightened. I used straps on both wheels, but I don't think that's necessary, the bike rode solid as a rock. I think you're doing something wrong if your bike falls off the rack. I'm going to take this rack on a 4,000 mile road trip and will update this review after I'm sure there are no issues. I can't see how there will be problems with it. The assembly instructions are so bad that I'm going with four stars. If step 1 is meaningless, you're going to have trouble putting this together. If yours comes like mine, you will also have left-over parts. I called the helpful customer service people in Canada to make sure I had it right after figuring out where they should go. There is a You will probably have 4 washers. The sliding wheel trays are locked down by those under the knobs. When you put them on, they won't be left over. There is a You are likely to have two lock washers. The factory left the upright arm and the two side arms off if yours comes with them. The two nuts hold the two bolts on the brackets. You will have to disassemble and reassemble them. Make sure to get the bike back together if you want to avoid the risk of dumping it on the road.
