Patented individual tie down system protects ships. Allen's warranty doesn't cover third-party sellers. Please consult the manufacturer's web page for a specific fit. 👤It worked great for a while, but then the frame began to warp and today it did 55 on the highway. The bikes slid because of the failure of the padding, causing damage to my trunk and bumper. The frame is off center after that happened. I waited on the side of the road for a friend to come and take the bikes because I didn't trust the structural integrity. The product worked for a while and then stopped. It started failing after that. There is a If the company sees this, please reach out to me and send me a return shipping so I can inspect the product. Someone could have been killed if the bikes fell off because of a serious flaw in my frame.
👤The rack does the job. If you're not looking to spend a lot of money, get this. You can't trust the bad reviews on this product because they are handling it to the max. Really, broken straps? Or bikes falling? They are pulling hard to get broken straps. There are two bikes fallings. When you install your bikes, use your common sense. This product will work for you if you have common sense. If you want to get better grip on the trunk, put electrical tape on the two hooks that go on the trunk, and secure the straps so that the rack isn't loose or won't move up and down. The pedals don't touch my back bumper, so whoever claims this, you need to re- install the rack or your bike. I have two fixed gear single speed bikes. There wasn't a problem when I drove a short distance. I'm pretty sure this product can go further. Again, just be careful, don't manhandle this product, and use your common sense.
👤I put a couple of layers of duct tape where the clips go on to prevent scratching of the car, but otherwise, this baby worked out of the box. You need at least two tie downs to stop the pedals from spinning. There is a Also, note: There is zero security. The whole shootin' match could be taken off the car by anyone. Don't leave the car out of sight. Everything could be gone in 20 seconds with a blade and pickup. For this price, you can't go wrong with the more expensive ones.
👤This product is great. I was worried that the mount rack would not be effective or durable. I was wrong. There is a The rack is easy to install and works well. It's compatible with every car in existence. I was worried that my 2012 Ford Focus wouldn't be able to hold the weight of 2 bikes because it is a tiny vehicle. It worked out well. I drove from Ft. Wayne traveled all the way to Boston and back with this bike rack. It did a great job! I drove through a storm in the mountains and the rack was not phased. I love this rack and it's at an affordable price. I have attached some pictures of the rack to give you a better idea. I don't understand why someone would buy a rack that has so much to offer.
Kids' bikes are for everyone. The frames are step-by-step. There are trikes. Recumbents are small. The list continues. If you have it, the Freedom can move it up to 60 lbs per bike. Rackets are easy to use to keep a bike secure. Universal Hitch is compatible with 1 14" and 2" hitches. There is a base at WHEELBASE. The rack is right out of the box. If your bike has a longer wheel base, you will need a bar. The rubber holders can fit any frame.
👤The product is advertised for bikes. I used it 8 times and it fell apart, leaving my ebike in the street. One of the cups the wheel rides in failed and the center post holder failed, leaving one wheel held to the rack and the rest of the bike dragging in the street. The parts are snapped and made out of plastic. My bike is within the weight range they quote and everything was attached as the directions recommend. I wasn't traveling fast or the road was rough. I wasted my money on this and it's outside of the return window. Learn from my experience.
👤It took a lot of research to find a good carrier solution for our beach cruisers. The majority of the racks are either over the wheel or the top bar. This is an excellent choice if you own a beach cruiser or women's bike. I've only used it four times, but I can get the rack bolted onto the trailer hitch and both bikes tied up within 5 minutes. The unit is built to last. I have traveled on highways and bumpy city roads without any concern about the bikes coming loose. When the unit is tilted back, the rear hatch is not a problem.
👤I bought the Saris 4 bike freedom rack back in February of 2020. My kids are old enough to trail ride with me and I needed an upgrade from my old 2 bike rack system that could easily and securely fit four MTBs without frame contact. I have been frustrated with the rack since February, and I couldn't have been more wrong to buy it. I should have paid the extra couple of hundred bucks for a tray hitch rack like 1up from the beginning. There is a I have two bikes, one with plus-size wheels, and a couple of kids, and I spent too much time configuring and reconfiguring the position of the wheel. They would loosen and shift and I would have to do it over and over again. The seats, handlebars, and pedals of the bikes will rub and cause damage to the other bikes if there isn't enough room between them. I would have to tie socks between the points of contact. The plastic components loosen easily after a few journeys. The Allen head bolt that held the cradle on fell out and the cradle fell off. It was in my driveway and not on the highway. The wheel tray straps are difficult to close. You have to get the position right each time. It is extremely frustrating. The rubber slips on the down tube cradle's anti-sway straps will not stay in position and will slip down the straps. They are an interesting idea, but they are an awful execution. The tilt bar wouldn't stay locked in the vertical position and the bikes attached to it would rock a little from side to side because the tip of the tilt pull handle broke. I had to make my own fix with a bolt head and a spot weld because I couldn't find a replacement part. I spent 25 minutes loading my four bikes each time I went for a ride and was constantly adjusting and re-adjusting the parts on the rack to fit the bikes. If you bike more than once in a blue moon, you'll get frustrated. This is not a bike rack made by Saris at a higher price point. I would say that it's garbage. I think they are exploiting the craze in biking. This product is worth half of that. It is for a person who bikes one or two times a month and has the patience of Job or is slightly masochistic. If you bike frequently, I would not recommend buying this product, you'll want to take a hammer to it. It's a good thing.

👤I like this back rack. It came in a big box with well written instructions and assembly went with a hitch. That's right. There are three locks on this rack, one on each bike center tube hook and one on the hitch pin. If you don't have any bikes, it can be folded up on the car. I use a regular hitch pin that doesn't need to be screwed in and the rack feels really solid going down the road. Highly recommended.
👤It had everything I was looking for, and it didn't cost me more than $400, which was great. I wanted a rack for my bike. My E-bike is 60 lbs. and most rack couldn't carry it over 35 lbs. You would have to buy a tray just for 4 tires to get the $400 that the racks had. The price is unbeatable for what you get and everything about this carrier is exactly what I was looking for. Also works well. I'm confident that I'll be able to carring my bikes anywhere.
👤I needed a bike rack since the better trails and roads are an hour or so away from home. I was initially shocked by the high prices of bike Racks on the market such as the $750 Thule aluminum & plastic carrier. There is a All load bearing parts are steel and heavy duty. The bike is hanging from the top tube rather than sitting securely on the bike wheels. The bike frame is secured with a hook. There is a Lift gate access and easy loading are possible with the tilt feature. There is a The construction is well designed. There is a If you only have one bike, you don't need to use a lot of wheel carriers. There are pros and cons. There are straps on the wheel that are designed to prevent any bounce and the hook that holds the bike down. I already had better and heavier duty motorcycle wheel tie-down straps that would hold on to the bike in the event of a catastrophic failure of the hook, which is why they were a bit short for 4 tires. There is a This rack was very pleased with itself. I think it's the best for the price and features.
👤This is a let down. Everyone likes this rack. The issue I had with the stand was that it sits at a 100-115 degree angle towards the back of the car not allowing a second bike to fit without the handle bar edging the back window of my van. It's crazy. I was going to buy a 7 inch hitch extension to seat the bikes further out from the window. There is a But... On my second local outing with my bike, the turn knob broke free and I didn't turn the screw because I was spinning freely. I had to disassemble my bike to get it out from under the arm which held it. Why was it lucky? The second bike is locked into a lower point of contact because the knob that broke is on the upper arm. The lower arm is trapped by the upper arm. I would have to cut the metal to get the second bike out. There is a There is a problem with PLASTIC. It's never a good idea to make anything that requires tightening and securing plastic. The plastic being so open to the environment and in a vital point of usage will cause the racks to be stripped out or rotted within 2 years. Everyone will have an incident like this, and it will happen to them later on. The rack is smart and people are giving great reviews. They will not be happy later. There is a It was disappointing to say the least. The rack is poorly constructed and designed.
The best fit is for most of the top vehicles sold. The largest vehicle compatibility of any trunk rack on the market is 2 bikes, 35 lbs each. The treatment is called a VIP treatment. Premium bike hold downs are easy to use. Integrated strap management eliminates flapping straps. It was built with 100% recycled materials. Injection-molded arms and legs keep the rack strong for a long time. The best-in-class straps quickly attach the bike to the rack, the strongest frame on the market, and the Arc–based design separates bikes on different levels. Made in the USA is built with 100% recycled materials.
👤I have a new BMW X3 and had trouble finding a two bike rack that would fit in my car; finally found this one. There is a The folding is easy to install and holds the bikes well with minimum movement of the bikes in transit. There is a The wide, upper hooks that are placed on top of the tailgate leave dents in the car, but you can see them. If you're alone, there's a "technique" to install these six different straps and hooks. I got it done, but it was a challenge. There is a The internal surfaces of the hooks should be pad. To customers, I would suggest placing a thin piece of plastic or other material under the hooks that attach to the top of the tail gate in order to prevent damage to the car.
👤When it comes to assembling mechanical objects, I am a grade-A dolt. I was looking at the instructions printed at a plant in China. I am looking at the diagram and wondering why the assembly objects don't look the same. I damaged my new purchase because I assembled it wrong. I posted on Facebook about why nothing comes with decent instructions. I have never before transported bikes by rack, so I am not really an experienced bicyclist. I got this because I wanted to go somewhere I wouldn't have to cross traffic every few pedals and I was tired of biking with my daughter on the same old streets. There is a If there was a way to mess up the installation of this bike rack, I would have found it. I would have written a review about it. Even I was able to do it because it was so easy to do. I am a top-of-the-line fool, so I mean foolproof. There is a The rack consists of three legs that mount against the bumper and trunk of the car, which are easy to adjust and lock in place. The clips are attached to the trunk's top, side and bottom. There are three points for attaching each bicycle. I was able to put the rack in place. The rack was bouncing around too much on the test run because I didn't pull the side straps tight enough. I was able to fix that and our transporting went quite smoothly with the rack in place. The design elements of this rack. The straps for fastening the bicycles are very well designed and easy to manipulate and keep the bikes secure. I had a little trouble with the girl's bike on the first run, but I still managed to do things imperfectly. I figured that out by the second run. There is a The set of clips for attaching to the sides of the trunk is the most difficult part of the rack. It takes some work to make sure the straps are tight. The clips are difficult to get in and out of. After taking the rack off, I realized that the clips were marked "top," "side" and "BOTTOM." I reversed the side and top clips. It was hard to get those side clips out because they were the top clips. I will get that right next time. It's easy to transport and store. It is very easy to store in one's trunk. Quite happy with this!

👤Our bikes crashed down to the highway after the top strap broke. We abandoned our bikes on the side of the road. The only way for the strap to break is if they were installed wrong. This wasn't the case. They never accept responsibility for faulty products in their other claims. We provided all of the required information to the company and they have replied with nothing but short error ridden messages. The replacement for the broken Premier 4-Bike rack was a $39 rack. I would suggest you go with a company that will stand behind their products.
👤I almost passed over this bike rack because of the price. I was worried that the lower price in comparison to other brands would mean lower quality and that was definitely not the case. The piece of equipment was ready to go when it was taken out of the box. It was easy to fit my husband's Nissan Altima and not move. We just returned from an extended road-trip to visit family and it carried 2 adult and 1 youth bike for a total of more than 2,000 miles and the only issues we had were (1) that it took about 20 miles to get the straps adjusted so they didn't vibrate and (2) that it Have no other complaints, had no issues, and would recommend this bike rack. Explanation: 1. Get up to speed to see how the straps respond when you put bikes on. You may need to tie them off, tighten them or find a way to keep them together. If you're carrying a sedan, it will likely only fit 3 because it's a 4 bike rack. It would be better to hold 4 3 if it was mounted from a van or SUV. If you have a women's bike, you will need a bar accessory. You may be able to get away without a bike. 4. Smaller, lighter bikes should be placed closer to the car. When the youth bike was on the outside, the weight of the other bikes bumped it off of the holding cradles, though the straps still held the bike to the rack.
👤I would give this bike rack a 4.5 out of 5, but since there is no half star rating, I'm bumping it up to a 5. There is a It comes pre-assembled so you can take it out of the box and install it in 30 minutes. It takes some time to figure out where to put the bike rack, but once you have figured it out, it's easy to install and attach your bike. It's pretty simple! The product is sturdy and it feels like it will last. We were able to fit 4 bikes on the rack without any issues, and we did not have to change the handles. It is easy to install, one person can take the bikes off the rack, and put them on. Even with the weight of the rack and 4 bikes, I didn't feel like my jeep was being weighted down. There was minimal swinging during our drive, and I was pretty comfortable driving with it. We haven't taken it on a long road trip yet, but it's a huge plus that it's not restricted to just one car. There is a The metal clips were concerning, but I bought pads for $10 and they protected my SUV. I'm going to try other hacks. If you need access to your trunk, you will need to remove the rack and replace it. If you're small like me, you're lifting the bikes above your head to place them on the rack, because it's not that bad if you have a carbon fiber bike. There is a You still need to make sure that you have additional bungees and zip cords to tie up the extra strap lengths so that they don't bounce into each other, and that you secure your bikes together so they don't bounce into each other. We forgot to bungee the bikes after our last trail ride because we were in a hurry to get home and the bikes were secure, but it would be a shame to have your bikes rubbing on each other ruining the frame. It wasn't very clear how the bottom clips were going to be inserted into the trunk, but once we figured it out, it was pretty simple and stayed secure. If someone really wanted our bikes, they'd either have to have the materials or bring a lock, because the rack doesn't have a security feature. The pros outweigh the cons for the price. The bike rack is a great value. Will post pictures from the time we use the rack.

👤My fiancée and I paid off our bike shop loan after buying a bike rack. I was a bit scared of buying a bike rack for our sedan since it's new, and in people's reviews, they show pictures of some racks that have made marks on their vehicles. This product is notALLEN SPORTS. The bikes were being held strong. We drove in the freeway and on the streets and the bikes did not damage our vehicle. The drive took 137 miles. It can fit 3 bikes. When you load the bikes onto the rack, make sure they face the same way. There are rails for each bike in the rack.
👤Just returned from a trip to South Carolina and back. It was cheaper and quicker to have a hitch put on my car. It worked. Zero issues. I put it on the back of the van in less than two minutes. It is very easy to remove it. This product is easy to use, durable and did not leave any marks on my car. Both bikes are in good shape. We removed the two front wheels of our bikes and mounted them facing opposite directions in order to balance their weight and keep the handle bars from touching. Excellent.
👤The hitch kit and the bike rack for my 2010 Odyssey will cost at least $200 and 2 hours to install. I took the risk and bought this rack. There is a We used the rack for 2 and 4 beach chairs. It worked out fine. There is a It was assembled in 1 minute. In 2 minutes, it was installed and went 250 miles without any issues. It feels good. I was checking it a few times and it was tight. The product is great and the price is unbeatable.
👤I carried 3 kids bikes for 6 hours each way through the mountains. It's easy to put together. I stopped to check. It started tight and in place. The straps were used to tie the tires in place. It was attached to my trunk. I don't have metal underneath my bumper to hook it to.
👤There is an update. We were not happy with the original rack we received, but Allen customer service has been great. They asked for a few photos. They sent a new rack based on the photos. Allen confirmed that the new rack is a newer model. The star rating has been upgraded because of the great CS. We will do a final update based on the performance of the new rack. This product turned out to be unsafe for us. As you drive down the highway, the thin silver metal supports pop out and the rack is dangling. In a word, flimsy. It might be a viable solution if you only use it once in a while for a short drive to a park. If you need a sturdy rack that can handle long trips and bumps in the road, something more sturdy is required. We had to tape and zip tie this thing to try to hold it together, but it didn't work. We gave up after it malfunctioned. Not safe. Not strong.
OMAC USA is located in the US and they will be shipping your orders from there. The products are the same on the pictures. They ship the same day. Just place your order before 2PM. 100% assembled. It works on most sedans/Hatchbacks/Minivans and SUV's. This can't be done with vehicles with rearSPOILERs. A bike capacity of 25KG or 55LB is sturdy and handy. 👤It's easy to set up and install, but once I mounted my bike on it, it didn't feel safe or sturdy. The straps that hold most of the bike's weight are supported by small metal clips with only tiny springs inside, which is a concern for me. It makes sense that they function as a quick open-close system to release the straps for easy and quick installation. The springs can give out with heavy bikes, so there is no additional tightener or closure to secure the straps. The bike rack would fall off the car if this happened. I think this is a major flaw. I bought plastic "tighteners" to add to the straps. It was very easy to add this above the metal clips, and I felt much better having this in addition to the metal clips. It's common sense that the manufacturer didn't provide something similar. There is a I like the design of the rack and it looks better than the most single bike rack I've seen, but I still think that the manufacturer should make the straps more secure and improve the design. I'm hesitant to carry my bike on this bike rack because it's heavy. The freeway is off limits. The safety of the strap clips is questionable, as if one is going to carry a bike with hands for hours, while the heavy duty rubber on the handles is questionable. The rubber protectors on the strap hooks that were supposed to protect the car paint were one of the reasons I decided to buy this rack. These are useless with my car. I had to hook them up to the bottom of the car because I couldn't slide the hooks into the thin opening on top of the car. I had to put some tape on the hooks to protect them. This modification is only for short term and short rides. The rubber protectors were useless because there was no paint to protect the car. The rubber coating is on the outside of the hooks and not inside where the paint rubbing and damage is most likely to occur. The hooks have rubber "dots" inside which are supposed to protect them. I don't think this will do any damage. There is a I don't use the rack daily so I can live with some of the issues, however if I were to use it daily I wouldn't like it. I don't think customers should buy a product and then have to look for ways to make it better or safer. It should meet the expectations right out of the box.

👤The bike rack was assembled in about 2 hours. You will probably do it quicker. The package includes cheap wrench tools, but you will definitely want more. A standard crescent wrench and screw driver is required. There is a There is a basic configuration for 2 bikes or 4 bikes. The extended 4 bike version was ordered by us. Each bike has two loops, one for the front tire and one for the back. You slide on the inside and outside of the slide bar. There are two sliding padded loops that go up and down over the horizontal bike tubes after a post goes up between the two bikes. Take a look at my pictures. If you only have 3 bikes, then you only need to install 6 tire loops, which is why ours looks like it's custom made. It's the 4 bike version. We can remove the two bike extension and go to a two bike carrier. The contraption is on the back of our car and can be seen from the car. People are asking if you can open a trunk with bikes in it. I'm sure you could. The rack is heavy even when it's empty. You would need to be a superman to be loaded with bikes. You can't get into the back of the car when it's loaded with 3 or 4 bikes. There is a A key lock for the pin connecting the rack to the car is a nice feature. I can see someone driving past and tossing bikes into the back of a pickup, but I don't know if this lock will stop them. It won't hold a pry bar. There is a The bikes are locked onto the stand with a key lock. It's not going to be able to stop people from walking away with your bike. The padded loop was able to slide down enough to work with a woman's bike. The eBike tires work well with the rack. Even though the bikes weigh 45 lbs, 4 of them still feel supported on the rack. There aren't many negatives other than the fact that you have to remove the metal from the back of your car. It's going to be very difficult to remove this rack from the car, that's the worst feature. The bolt is screwed into the receiver. It's going to be difficult to remove that bolt because it's a no-slip type. They want to stop rattles and secure the stand to the car. It's going to be hard to put it on and take it off. I can already see the wear on the nut from being tightened up once. I've put it on and off 20 times. I have a feature on my car that is specific to me. The hatch will open if I loiter around the back of the car. The hatch would bang into my bikes when I loaded them. I can change that feature. I have to remember to do that. If you're after a heavy duty rack that's able to hold heavier bikes, this is the one for you.
There is an accessory included: an Adapter. The bike is being moved and the Lenox comes with an accessory to reduce the wobble of the bike. When not in use, Lenox can be used for simple storage. It works on most sedans/Hatchbacks/Minivans and SUV's. Soft cradles are made to protect your bike frame. Carry arms that are foldable when not in use. The bike carrying system is simple. It folds down for convenient storage and allows for rear vehicle access. Transports up to 2 bikes. Transports up to 2 bikes.
👤The video shows how to unfold the rack. Do not spin! You are removing them! If you follow his directions, the handles will fly apart and you will spend 30 minutes getting it back together. Turn the handles out. Not a good bike rack. It is. I can't return it because it was in Chinese and Amazon.
👤I bought this for my car. A. The instructions were not very useful. There is a My door wouldn't close when I got it on. C. I had to change it around to keep it out of the vehicle. There is a Conclusions: This was a total waste of money. I need a new bike rack. There is a Do not buy this bike rack if you have a RAV 4.
👤We did not get instructions. We are a day past the return policy so we can't return it. I can't get in touch with the company. Anyone know how to do it? Ours sits too low to the ground and we think it's faulty. There is a We will change review if the company contacts us.
👤The first step of adjusting the rails was awful. The springs came out when the screws popped off. It took me 30 minutes to get this fixed. It wasn't hard after that. Even though the bolts were tight, my bike slid off the rack as I drove. You will need to tie some of the straps around the bike frame to keep it from sliding off the rack onto the ground. Very dangerous. They should have done something about this. It does seem stable once it is on. I'm afraid to put the bikes on it because they could slide off. I only use one bike at a time.
👤It is easy to install. It is cheap. You need to secure a bike for short distances. Good for SUVs and sedans. There is a It was terrible for 2 bikes. It does not hold up. I still recommend one bike for short distances. There is a I wouldn't use it on bumpy roads.
👤There are design flaws in this bike rack. The rubber straps are easy to unhook and the rubber mounts hold the bike frame in place.
👤The bike carrier is easy to remove from the van gate. It's perfect for carrying a couple of bikes and for quick storage when out on the trails.

👤We didn't have a trailer hitch on our vehicles so we had to carry our mountain bikes to the park. There is a The bike rack arrives in a professional decorated box, has a durable appearance, and can fit on our saturn sedan and Chrysler town and country lift. It holds 3 adult bikes with no issues, and the pads are good enough to keep it from scratching. We have used this rack on the interstate at 75 miles per hour with no shaking, rocking back and forth, or strap slippage.
👤2 bikes are put on this bike carrier. 3 bikes wouldn't fit on this rack. Anyway left for vaca. About an hour on the trip. We pulled off the road after hearing a sound. The end of the arms that hold the bikes had the rubber bike holders on it. The scew head in the stoppers looks like they are screwed in. We could see there was nothing we could do to fix it. It's a hollow pipe. The bike's back fell off, shredding the tire and wheel. The chain was wrapped around the sprockets and bent up. This was a limited edition bike that was made for one year. Not as expensive as my bike. I still liked it. It is now trashed. Don't buy thisRACK. I can't find any contact information for this man. I can't demand compensation from them. It's so sad.
👤The staps broke. I bought this bike rack a few weeks ago for a camping trip. I only traveled with 2 bikes for my teenagers because it was designed for 3 bikes. When we left, the 2 bikes were held in the correct position. We traveled an hour away from home. The bikes fell into traffic. Four cars were damaged because of this product failing to do its intended purpose. The firefighters and police agreed that the product had a poor design. There was only property damage and no one was hurt. Do not purchase this product.
👤This product is easy to install. My expectations were low for the price. What I received was worse than I had expected. The entire weight of the rack and bikes hangs on two small straps after I installed it on a car. The whole thing sagged after the first bike was hung. The posts that are over 16 inches apart are not compatible with my bike frame. The straps on the bottom came undone. The bottom straps come free no matter how tight I am. Unless your bike has a 1/3 inch top tube, the red rubber frame holders are useless. The straps for the bike are nylon and the mounting straps are plastic. It was clear from the start that there is no way you can fit 3 bikes on the rack. It won't support the weight of three bikes. The straps are loosened as you travel down the road. I mean every couple miles. I still don't trust the strap that I used as a secondary support strap. Our bikes are not heavy. All between 25-40 lbs. After trying to get bikes on the rack for testing, the rack was too marred and scratched to return, and the frames were damaged from the screws on the frame holders. There were missing nuts from the box. If you have a bike that costs more than $75, I don't trust this rack to carry it down the road. If you are trying to get your bike to a trail head, this rack is not for you. Total waste of money.

The cradles prevent bike to bike or bike to vehicle contact. Soft rubber cradles and straps are used to protect the bike frame. The rack can be adjusted to fit different types of vehicles. The vehicle is protected from scratches. Installation is easy with tool free mounting. The bike rack folds when not in use.
👤This sway rack was awesome because of the anti cradles. It is very easy to use. Will recommend this product.
👤We attached this to the back of our car to take the bikes on the camping trip. The bike rack is secure and works well on the vehicle, and we had no worries about the bikes coming loose. The only thing we didn't like about the bike rack was the difficulty of securing the bikes to it. We pictured a zip tie with a locking clasp. This is not what this product offers. Instead, it is a heavy-duty rubber band with square holes in it, that you wrap around the part of the bike you wish to secure, and attach it by pushing a rubber square knob through one of the holes, similar to how children's sandals have multiple holes on the strap It takes a very strong person with strong hands to fit the knob in at an angle because the holes are so small and the rubber is so heavy. I couldn't do it myself and my husband had to pull on the band to get the bikes attached. It was a lot of work. Setting up the bike rack took 20 minutes, but securing two bikes and three points took just as long. The company should revisit these straps and make them more user-friendly.
👤I have never assembled a trunk mount bicycle rack, but I am very handy with assembling things. My husband and I built a SportRack on his Explorer and will use it on my car. Compared to the hitch-mount rack, this has more moving parts and some straps everywhere, but it is easy to assemble or figure out. The rest was a no-brainier until I decided where I would put the bicycle. The hitch-mount rack has a cradle on one arm and a cradle on the other arm. The ability to secure the top bar and the seat post with straps is provided by the hinged piece on the seat side. I felt better to see this in the video because it's confusing to others. This is not addressed in the instructions. The pegs on the hitch-mount rack where the rubber straps are attached are plastic, so it is easy to attach them. These pegs are an extension of the soft rubber cradles. I had a hard time attaching a rubber strap to a rubber peg. The process was made difficult and time consuming by the peg moving and compressed. There is a The Diamondback bike's style doesn't allow much clearance for it to be mounted. The rubber pegs helped in this situation since I could just wiggle the bike over the pegs and they popped back into place. My husband's bike had the same problem. It wouldn't be difficult if the arms were closer together. There is a After reading a lot of reviews, I realized that this is one of the better ones. Maybe the things I found problematic were not unavoidable. I have only mounted one bicycle since my husband's car will be used when we ride together, but it holds the bike very securely. It may take me a bit longer to mount the bicycles, but once on, this rack works well. The ability to travel with my bike makes this all worthwhile.
