👤I'm big. A tall person is almost 400 pounds. I wanted to start a more healthy lifestyle and purchased this bike. The low gears allow me to start slowly. The bike is heavy. It handles my weight well. It was an investment in ease of use and worth the money spent to have it professionally adjusted. I upgraded the crank bearings, but not the wheel bearings, as recommended by the bike shop. I'll upgrade them when necessary. I changed the seat for me to a "Cloud 9" seat. I have no issues. The terrain is smooth because of the tires. Dirt roads are easy to navigate. I am happy I made this purchase.

👤I knew there would be a lot of parts replaced, but I wanted to make it last longer than 5 days. I received a box from the company on Friday and it needed to be packed better. The box was laying down and the rear wheel was bent. I should have sent it back when I was able to pull it out. It was manageable for the short term if I kept it in 6 and didn't shift gears often. If I shifted to a lower gear, it would work itself back up to 6 within 45 seconds, but not the end of the world for a part I intended to replace. There is a Fast forward to Wednesday. I ride after work at the local park that has more hills than on Saturdays and Mondays. I have to stand up to get some extra leverage up the hill after the derailleur breaks and the chain does a complete 180 on the bike so it is upside down on the wheel. After I slide it back around and get the chain back in place, I can drive to a bike shop. There is a Less than a week has passed. I am dropping money into this bike much sooner than anticipated because I am extremely disappointed in the quality of it. If the manufacturer had packed the bike correctly, this would not have happened.

👤I was very excited to get this bike. I used to do this for Trek. It wasn't my first rodeo, and I took off down my street for the maiden voyage. Within 800 feet of my driveway, the cheap plastic chain guard, prowheel brand, shattered into six pieces, cut my legs, and I went end over end. The bike feels great, but it is made of plastic. Don't buy if you're warned. There was an update on 8-19-18. Amazon sent me the same bike and I got back my money. The front disc brake was crumple like paper as I applied light pressure to it, relying on the rear to slow down on a gentle curve. I went into some bushes. The front fork was twisted. I would show that as well. I stripped the bike and made it 888-282-0465. It's going back to Amazon. You should be ashamed of yourselves for selling cheap bikes under a once noble name, and for having no customer support. I have the ability to influence anyone for the rest of my life.
👤I'm trying to get healthy again and the idea of being locked away in the gym on stationary machines sounded very unattractive. The idea of an outdoor bike came to mind. I was very worried that I wouldn't find a bike that could hold the mount. I was afraid that I would look like a man on a bike. The Dolomite Fat Tire Mountain Bike has made me less afraid. The fat tires bring some balance to my watermelon like shape while on it, as well as holding my robust body. I recommend this bike to anyone who wants to get healthy again.
👤I bought this bike a year ago and have been using it as a trail bike. This bike is a good candidate for the theory of gradually upgrading a bike for people who are curious about fat bikes. The bones of the frame, wheels, tubes, tires and seat have stood up to regular use on rocky trails and steep fire roads. I treated this bike to a brand new Kenda Juggernaut rear tire because I like it so much. I was happy to upgrade parts from my spare parts bin because most of the stock components were not my liking. Not everyone has one of these. I pulled some better gear from my spare parts bin because I wanted to use it for more than cruising on sand, and everything worked when I got it. When I bring my bike for a group ride, my regular mountain biking friends occasionally trade me for a portion of our ride and have been pleasantly surprised that the bike geometry is actually comfortable and the bike doesn't feel as slow as it looks. I configured mine to run a 26 tooth chain ring in the front and a 14-34T Freewheel in the back, which provided more reasonable gear for climbing. Hope this helps someone make a purchase.
👤I read reviews and researched on fat tire bikes before buying 2 of them for myself and my wife. Positive and negative reviews on Amazon were both accurate, I would say. My wife's bike arrived and was put together nicely, she went on the beach. My bike was not the only story. The box was falling apart and there was plastic on the bottom of it. I put it together. I am not using the front disc brake because it is broken. It's inconvenient that the chain slips off the back sprockets. I received a PDF with instructions on making adjustments, and was told if that didn't work I could return it to Amazon. Both are not good options. I don't know how to package it up and send it back. By looking at my wife's bike, it's possible that all goes well, because it's a nice bike at a nice price. Is my bike? I'm not sure what to do. I will have to try to fix it.

👤I bought the Impasse because it fit my budget for a full suspension mountain bike that I could grow with. The bike was a bit of a gamble, because of the detail specifications and reviews. It's garbage if you don't buy it. I know from experience that some people expect too much. The reviewer should give a background on what they want to use the item for. You can't get anything for $300 from experience. I know that you can get a 1000 dollar item through research and sales. I'm 63 years old and weigh 220 lbs. I ride through the woods trails with some downhills and small drop-offs, sometimes on gravel roads. Downhill competition, no extreme, bite your lip, 3o mph. I wanted to replace my 26" bike with a 29" bike that has disc brakes front and rear and v-brakes. The cheapest bike you can buy is a full suspension bike. You can get up to $220 with only front disc brakes. In the spring of the year, you can find a full suspension bike with disc brakes for less than $300. It's not realistic for anyone to expect a $1000 bike. Maybe $500 bike. You can easily approach a bike of between $900 and 1200 dollars with some upgrades. The tires need to be replaced in order to upgrade to this bike. $70 was the cheapest I could find for tires and tubes. The cheapest. Sky is the limit. If you want to buy a new bike with new technology, you can spend $70+ for tires and tubes. The Impasse is entered. There is a description of the packaging and delivery. The bike was poorly packed. There was no packing in the box to protect the delicate pieces. The bike was partially assembled with the front wheel tie wrapped to the frame and the handlebars strapped to the front forks. The box had a bubble wrap around it, foam around it, and plastic protectors for the hubs that were broken. There were some scratches and rubs on the bike. You are at the mercy of how the shipping company handles it, because I have found no other way to get this bicycle except through mail order. Poor packaging would result in scratches, buffs, bent or lost parts, which would cause some returns of the bike, so it would be better if the manufacturer made better packaging. The bike price could be the same if more cost for packaging was added. My bike was manufactured in April of 2015 and was found on the down-tube or seat-post near the crank. You need this and the model number. If you need to have work done. The owners manual covers all of the bikes in the department store, so be patient to find the section you need for your model. I would have liked a shorter owners manual with more info specific to this model, but this would increase cost and inventory problems with the manufacturer. The manual helps keep the cost down. If there are no damaged parts, assembly is not really difficult. They are easy to adjust if you follow the manual. To make sure the disc is centered in the caliper, spin the wheels. I had to make adjustments to the rear derailleur to make it shift properly. If you are unsure about being able to do this sort of work, you can take it to a local bike shop and they will set it up for you for a fee. That is a difference between buying your own savings and buying from a bike shop that will check the bike before it is sold to you. You can either take it back to the shop and spend more money, or you can learn how to maintain and adjust it yourself. It's true if you buy a $200 bike or a $2000 bike. The STOCK Shock is 150mm or 6 feet long, that's the problem with this upgrade. The shock is 6'5" long. I'll let you know if I upgrade this, because it will change the geometry of the bike. You can do it a little at a time, while riding, instead of having to fork out $500 right now. You may never want to upgrade this bike, even if you wanted to. I might upgrade the shock and fork in the future because I have never had one. The suspension works well to smooth out ruts and pot holes in rural and country roads, as well as gravel/dirt roads, and wooded area trails. It works well for this type of riding. The longer you ride, the suspension gets better. The Impasse feels like a decent bike for taking on some dirt roads and light trails. I wouldn't ride it on a hardcore downhill path or do jumps with it, but it can go over roots and things very well. There is a The disc brakes work well. The bike is only $280 because they are half to one third the cost of premium brakes. When the pads wear out, I may upgrade them to the BR-M416A or AvidBB7's. The cost difference of high-priced bikes in keeping the weight down around 36-38 lbs is using more costly components like carbon fiber, better aluminum, etc. If you ride this or any bike for a month or two, you will lose 10 lbs and save money. The frame is made of aluminum, along with the handle bars, seat post, crank arms, yoke of the front fork, and calipers. The levers are made of aluminum and plastic. The bikes in this price range are typical. The bike will perform closer to that $500 price range bike if the upgrade to the EF 51 Shifter/Brake Lever combo is done before the end of the year. I have used the SureGrip Max shifters for years and this is not a must upgrade. I would like to try the Trigger Shifters. The combo of the brake levers and shifters will free up the handlebar space and make it look like a $500 bike. There are people who complain about where to put a water bottle holder. Most mountain bikes do not have a place for water bottles. They have a backpack hydration system. The tool kit made by Topeak would be a good purchase for any bike owner since the bike uses all metric fasteners. This bike will be right up there with a $1000 bike if there are more upgrades mentioned. I am a male in my 30s who is getting back into cycling after a 15 year hiatus. I weigh 220 lbs. I am coming from a very sedentary life with four kids and a desk job. I do not have a very active lifestyle. I decided to get back into cycling to increase my activity level after finishing school. Labor Day 2015 was when I started riding again. Over a month. I've put over 200 miles on this bike. I was down on riding for about two weeks waiting for a repair, but it was not bad. There is a Let's start at the beginning. I picked this up on an Amazon Deal of the Day for a great price. I was considering a number of bikes, and this price was the one that tipped the scale for me. The model took less than a month to arrive after it was heavily ordered. When it arrived, it was packaged well and undamaged. The general instructions are vague due to how generic they were, but I assembled the bike myself. It took me about 30 minutes to get it assembled, however a lot of adjustment was needed, as I consider myself to be very handy and capable when it comes to this type of work. When attempting to shift or skip gears when powered into the pedals, the front and rear derailleurs were not setup well. I did both the wheels at the LBS, but at first I didn't know how much trued they needed. The brakes needed to be adjusted a lot and I spent a lot of time tweaking and tuning them over the first week. I would take it into the LBS from the beginning. There is a The assembly was not bad at the beginning, but over the next few weeks it changed. I am happy with the overall features of the bike, but I'm still debating on keeping it orUpgrading, the seat is large and comfortable, the fenders are plastic but effective, and the gears are helpful to get through the various ups and downs. The tires and tubes are fairly low end, but have served me well so far, I only had to fix one flat tire. The brakes are effective and the hand grip shifters are easy to use. The front fork and seat suspension is not very strong, but it loosens up as I ride, so it may be broken in in another 200 miles. I had to adjust the rotation on the handgrips to make my arms and wrists straighter while I ride because the handlebars are very variable and it took me some time to get the right adjustments. I adjusted my seat height and saddle depth for a more comfortable ride and feel this bike would be a good fit for anyone between 5'8" tall and 6'3" tall. The Rim is a standardly constructed Rim and it is light. I blew a spoke at 160 miles/ two weeks in. This is a road miles or paved trails with only a few significant bumps to speak of. I took it into the LBS and had them replace the spoke and true wheel. I blew two more spokes within the next 20 miles, but I couldn't make it home because I blew three more. I had to walk the rest of the way home after the wheel was no longer usable. I was told to buy new wheels after I contacted my LBS. I paid for the bike, but the low end spoke wheels will cost me more than I paid for. This was 195 miles and just under three weeks of use. I was not happy. I contacted Schwinn. They told me that they would send me a new rear wheel for free. It's nice, right? The only issue was that they didn't have the wheel in stock. They asked me to give them a few days to find the wheel, if not they would send me a different model that would work with my bike. I received an email two days later saying they had shipped a package. They decided to send me a set of wheels from another model of the same size to make sure I had a matching set of wheels after they couldn't find a replacement wheel for the Discover. They were upgraded from a 24 spoke wheel to a 32 spoke wheel at no additional cost to me. My bike is back after a full tune up. The new wheels were running smoothly. I just finished a 35 mile ride and was very happy. Schwinn stood behind their product. There is a The tube stem length is the only concern I have for the originals and the new ones. The stem of the tubes is a little bit longer than a standard 32mm stem. My LBS says they can't find tubes with a stem that long. I bought a pack of stem extensions which will allow me to purchase the standard 32mm stem size at my store or on Amazon without having to worry about the extra length or purchase specialty tubes. You could get by without the extensions, but they make changing a tube a bit quicker and easier. I have ridden this bike up to 42mph and it felt rock solid. A quick update... I have about 700 miles of use left in me, and 500 miles on the new set of wheels. Within 100 miles of my wheel change, I broke another spoke on the rear wheel, I had to replace the front derailleur and the cable, with both myself and my LBS attempting to get it set up correctly and dialed in. The chain ring set has become slightly bent from use and I am looking at having to replace it. After the chain ring replacement, I will be into the bike for a long time. I still think it's a good bike for the price, but I would recommend it to someone who is looking to log some serious miles. There are additional recommendations. I patched about 8 times before investing in thick tire tubes, self-sealing tubes or tire liners, but changing a tire on the same day...this obviously depends on where you ride and the conditions that you ride in, but changing a tire on the same day is recommended. My morning and evening commute tend to be into a strong headwind for about 14 miles and I have recently installed a set of aero bars. I wanted an option to get me lower on this ride because my body position is too upright for the headwinds I have been riding in. I will do another update later. I have started saving and looking for a new bike.

There is a The bike was packaged well and came in a large box. The box was most likely blown into it by transit. A lot of the vital parts of the bike were unboxed. I will get to that in the review, but I didn't have any protection on them like bubble wrap, which caused an issue after I assembled the bike. There is a The bike was easy to assemble with some basic tools. After inflating the front and back tires and bolting them on the forks, I noticed the front and rear wheel had a slight link in them. It's not a huge deal but still noticeable. The V-breaks became an issue because the slight warp on the wheel would catch on the brake pad even with adjusting the position on the brakes. The biggest problem was the derailleurs. The rear derailleur was in line with the big hole in the box. I don't know what pierced the box, but it caused the rear derailleur to bend, which made the chain noise while pedaling. I had to bend the limiter back in place after I adjusted the H and L screws to fix it. The front and rear derailleurs were out of whack because of this. I had to adjust to that as well. On top of adjusting the cable tension. It took about 3 to 4 hours to adjust the chain path. There is a I had to remove the rear derailleur guard because I couldn't shift on to the first 3 gears. The opinion of the bike is mixed. It's a complete bike with a nice finish. The bike works despite the front shocks being cosmetic. Most of the mechanical parts will be upgraded in the near future. The derailleurs are garbage quality. Don't plan on taking this thing on any jumps or crazy trails until you replace some of the stuff on this bike. There is an update! As of July 15th, the rating was moved to 1 star. The bike went into a pile. After making a weird sound for two days, the freewheel hub seized up and the bike wouldn't shift gears or pedal correctly. It would take too long to get the parts to fix because of covid19 and Amazon's bad shipping times. The parts and specialty tool for fixing a bike would be about $50, which is almost half the price of the bike itself. I bought a quality bike from a company. I suggest that you save yourself the headaches.
👤I was not happy. The bike was destroyed before it was opened. The spokes of the front tire were shoved down through the forks and there were scratches on the frame. After reading through the directions and trying to put it together step by step, I realized that the front tire was bent and that it would rub the break pad. I tried adjusting the breaks, but it didn't help. It's going to be difficult to return it. I guess the only other option is to buy another rim. The next person buying this bike should have the same experience. It would be nice to actually ride your bikes.

One of the spokes on the front wheel was bent. The front of the bike frame was discolored and almost felt sticky, but this is not a real problem. I had to zoom in on the picture to understand the installation because the instructions don't explain where the shifters are to be installed. I'm not happy with this bike. I did not ride it because of the front wheel not aligning and the bent spoke, but it got a one star from me.
👤My first ride on this bike was on Sept 2nd of last year, and at the time of writing this review, I had traveled 106 miles on this bike. I am around 5'9" and I like the fit of this bike. I was able to put the bike together quickly, but I had to take it to a local shop to make sure it was assembled correctly. The front wheel was wobbly and needed to be truing. If you have experience, this can be taken care of by yourself. If you're not experienced, I would recommend taking the bike to a shop. The bike shifts smoothly after some adjustment at the shop. The brakes that come with it aren't the best. I didn't have to air up the tires in two months. I am happy with my purchase so far, and I think this bike has been worth the money. If you are looking for a cheap, fun road bike to commute with or just want to hit the road on the weekend, this is the bike for you. I will try to update this review in the future once I get more mileage on the bike.
👤The bike is good for money. I didn't know what to expect when I saw the box, it was a bit beat up. I was a bit worried. I was able to say that the bike looks great and no parts were damaged in transit, even though I opened it up. After a few rides, I'm very satisfied with this purchase, but I haven't had a chance to review the longevity or long term durability. The bike lacks a mount point for a water bottle and I had to adjust the front brake calipers to prevent them from touching the wheel when not being used. The handle bars are a bit low, which means I'm hunched over when riding, but it does provide me with a good arm workout. I saw a lot of questions about this on the product Q&A page, even though the bike says it's a medium size.
